Career and Technical Education Program
Preparing students for college, for careers, and for life.
Learning by doing and exposing students to real career opportunities. That’s the gist behind the NYC Department of Education’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program. The hands-on educational approach gives high school students the opportunity to learn the specific skills that not only help them graduate from high school, but can also earn them college credits and the certifications needed to land a paid job in their industry.
Our team went back to high school to highlight this unique program, filming students, teachers, and industry partners as they coded like champions, soldered pipes like the neighborhood plumber, and learned to draw blood safely and effectively. We also learned that the CTE students boast some of the city’s highest high school graduation rates, college acceptance rates, and entry into some of the most coveted unions in the region.
